HILLDALE
ESTATE
WELCOME
Hilldale Estate was originally established as a dairy farm in 1867 by the Hunter family, descendants of which still live in the Lockyer Valley. After being passed down through the family, it became a Salvation Army boys’ home for 15 years. The estate was then bought and developed by the current owners into a limousin stud by the Burrell family in 1988. The first plantings of the homestead gardens and the tree line of the driveway, were started shortly after settling. In 2000, extensive excavation and planting started in order to develop the 5 acres of gardens that can be seen today. Surrounding the vineyards there is a series of transecting lagoons spanning over 800 metres and more than 2 kilometres of path. The gardens also involve numerous vistas and a sunken lawn, several pergolas, kilometres of pathways, several waterfalls, four bridges and one island.
